SYDNEY DEGUZMAN (SHE/HER), RP (QUALIFYING)
Hi, I’m Sydney (she/Her)!
Starting therapy is a meaningful step toward self-discovery, healing, and growth. It’s completely normal to feel a mix of emotions as you begin this process, and I’m here to support you in navigating it at your own pace. As a student intern, I am committed to creating a safe and compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences with openness and curiosity.
My approach is client-centered, strength-based, and collaborative. I believe that each person holds the capacity for growth and healing, and my role is to support you in gaining insight, building resilience, and working toward meaningful change. I integrate various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), tailoring our work to best fit your unique needs and goals.
I strive to foster a warm and supportive environment where you feel safe, heard, and empowered. My work is informed by a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and intersectional lens, acknowledging the diverse identities and lived experiences that shape each individual’s journey.
I am currently pursuing my Master’s of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, with an Undergraduate Degree in International Development from the University of Guelph. I have experience working with individuals facing challenges such as life transitions, addictions, and emotional regulation. My background also includes additional training in suicide prevention and crisis management.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my animals and loved ones, reading a book, trying a new restaurant or going to the gym. I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your path toward growth and self-discovery!
