SOJ KIM, RP (QUALIFYING)

Hi, I’m Soj!

Thank you for being here, especially if getting to this point wasn’t easy. A big part of therapy is finding someone who feels like the right fit, and I hope this will give you a sense of how it might be for us to work together!

In my work, I’ve had the privilege of supporting youth, young adults, and adults from diverse backgrounds navigating anxiety, anger, emotional regulation, relationship challenges, and trauma. I also work with couples, helping them strengthen communication, move through challenges, and explore intimacy in ways that feel authentic to their relationship. I’m especially drawn to understanding how our early experiences shape the ways we relate to ourselves and others, and how these patterns show up in our emotions and connections.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked with high school students and their families for many years. That experience, combined with my own journey as an immigrant, shapes how I understand change and the ways culture, family, beliefs, and early environments influence how we connect with ourselves and others. It’s also what informs how I approach therapy, recognizing that each person brings their own set of experiences, and working in a way that feels aligned with their goals. To support this, I draw from a range of approaches including Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.

In sessions, my priority is to create a space for you that feels warm, supportive, and honest. I listen closely to your experiences while gently highlighting patterns that may be difficult to see from the inside. I won’t shy away from difficult conversations, but we will always move at a pace that feels manageable and focused on your goals and changes you want to see. My hope is that you feel heard, understood, and able to show up as you are as we work through what’s coming up for you.

When I’m not in session, I like to recharge by spending time with my pets, doing arts and crafts, cooking, thrifting, and connecting with my friends and family. Slowing down and trying new things help me stay present and enjoy life’s little moments.
