AMY DESILVA, RP

Hi, I’m Amy (she/her)

I am passionate about helping clients re-establish autonomy and connection in their lives and to become more self-accepting, self-aware, and self-compassionate. I value the importance of the therapeutic relationship by creating a space that feels comfortable, non-judgmental, and warm for you to be able to come as you are to facilitate healing and growth. As your therapist, I am here to help empower you to live a more present life, less burdened by the past. I want to help you better understand yourself, build a more nurturing relationship with yourself and cultivate deeper connections with those around you. I hope to help you reach your goals and remind you to be kind to yourself throughout the process.

I am a lifelong learner and value continued education and professional practice. I am a Certified Adoption Competent Practitioner through the Adoption Council of Ontario.  I am aware of the unique complexities, emotional struggles and other core issues associated with adoption. I understand both the inherent beauty and unique struggles faced by these families. I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University and a Master of Arts in Psychology Counselling through Yorkville University.

Outside of work, I enjoy creating new pieces of art in a pottery studio, eating food with friends, and playing sports. You can usually find me outdoors with my husky camping, hiking, or around a campfire.

Whether counselling is a new step for you or you have previous experience, I am honoured to join you on this journey.  I am committed to fostering a space where individuals can explore, learn, and flourish. I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your path to well-being.
