Hi, I’m Nichole!
I have an undeniable passion for working with children, couples and families. My internship and work experience at the Reach Out Centre for Kids in Milton and Family Counselling and Support Services in Guelph has uniquely prepared me to deal with a wide range of individual and family issues. During my time there I also co-facilitated groups for Violence Against Women, Women Childhood Survivors of Sexual Assault, Child Witness, Bereaved by Suicide, and Partner Assault Response (PAR).
I have helped countless children and families struggling with attachment, trauma, parent-child conflict, separation/divorce, parenting, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, sexuality and gender identity, ADHD and more.
I also know first-hand what it’s like being a parent in a blended family and what it takes to make family life work. I’m a mother to both her 9-year-old daughter and 4-year-old step-daughter. When working with other families, I draw from my personal experience supporting my daughter through mental health issues, challenges at school, and learning disabilities. I know parenting can be a struggle but also delights in the quiet breakthroughs my daughters have on a day-to-day basis. I bring this practical perspective to the families I work with.
I have an amazing ability to connect with both children and families and develop treatment plans that take the entire family into consideration. I work collaboratively with parents to include them every step of the way in learning how to best understand and support their children’s individual needs.
I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches suitable for children, adults, and couples. I’ve completed advanced training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Intergenerational Trauma Treatment Model (ITTM), and Narrative Therapy.
I am also a certified personal trainer and fitness enthusiast. I integrate the importance of physical health as part of my overall approach to increasing my clients’ emotional health.
When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me with family and friends doing some type of physical activity or travelling. I have traveled extensively around the world and love to discover new cultures and different foods. I hope to travel more with my family and have many more countries on my bucket list!
